UAE Minister of Economy emphasizes current surge in economic momentum


(MENAFN) Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, the Minister of Economy in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), has emphasized the current surge in economic momentum across all sectors in the country. He highlighted that the UAE is hosting major economic conferences and events, underscoring the leadership's directives to establish the nation as a global economic hub, serving as a bridge between the East and West, and the North and South. These efforts are led by the directives of the UAE's leaders, including President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice-President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court.

The conclusion of Gitex Global 2023, a significant technology event, has reinforced the UAE's status as a prime destination for hosting the headquarters of major international companies and institutions. The UAE's strategic positioning has made it a hub for a multitude of major economic events throughout the year.

In its 43rd edition, Gitex attracted over 6,000 exhibitors and 180,000 tech executives from 180 countries. Furthermore, more than 800 government entities from the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia region participated, and the event spanned over 2.7 million square feet. Over four decades, Gitex has served as a critical platform for tech companies, decision-makers, and startups to unveil the latest innovations across pivotal economic sectors, including technology, digital economy, and artificial intelligence. The exhibition also facilitates public-private partnerships in these domains.

The Minister of Economy underscored the essential role played by the UAE in hosting various international gatherings, such as Gitex Technology Week, the UNCTAD 8th World Investment Forum 2023, green economy events within COP28, the Dubai Air Show, Arab Health Medical Expo, and the Global Future Councils, among others. These events serve as crucial platforms that bring together experts and specialists from diverse sectors, providing opportunities for dialogue, knowledge exchange, and showcasing cutting-edge products and services. Importantly, these major economic events contribute significantly to the support and growth of various economic sectors in the UAE.
