After the pandemic disrupted the art world's exhibition calendar, these events gradually resumed last year, with some of them permanently changing dates. Two major fairs have opened in Asia this year: ART SG, which opened the art fair calendar last week in Singapore, and Tokyo Gendai.
Below we will review the most important art industry events of this year.
Sydney Contemporary
Location: Carriageworks
General Admission Days: Thursday, September 7–Sunday, September 10
Australia's largest art fair celebrates its 10th anniversary with this edition. Bringing together galleries from across Australia and the Asia-Pacific region, the art world event hosts more than 90 exhibitors.
Frieze London and Frieze Masters
Location: Regent's Park
General Admission Days: Friday, October 13–Sunday, October 15
Frieze's hallmark contemporary fair in London will return this October. It is going to run simultaneously with Frieze Masters, which is dedicated to work made before 2000. This Frieze will likely host around 160 galleries.
Paris+, par Art Basel
Location: Grand Palais Éphémère
General Admission Days: Thursday, October 19–Sunday, October 22
After its surprise coup against Paris's FIAC in 2022 for the dates of the Grand Palais, Art Basel launched a successful and largely praised first edition of Paris+ this past October. The art world event will likely serve as Paris's main art fair, an important stabecause the French capital has seen a rise in art commerce post-Brexit. It is currently unknown whether this trend will continue into 2023. But during a press conference dedicated to its opening, the director of Paris + Clement Delepin promised that the art world event would only get better in the next editions.
The Art Show, New York
Location: Park Avenue Armory
General Admission Days: Thursday, November 2–Sunday, November 5
This November, the Art Dealers Association of America Art Show will be held for the 35th time this year. The carefully curated fair typically draws around 75 exhibitors from within the industry group, and its evening VIP performance once again benefits the community of Henry Street.
Artissima, Turin
Location: OVAL Lingotto Fiere
General Admission Days: Friday, November 3–Sunday, November 5
This year marks the 30th anniversary of Artissima, one of Italy's most important art industry events. Each edition features around 170 exhibitors; this one will be the second under the direction of Luigi Fassi.
Art Cologne
Location: Cologne Fair grounds, Koelnmesse, Hall 11
General Admission Days: Friday, November 17–Sunday, November 19
The world's oldest art world event celebrates its 56th edition this year. The fair typically features around 190 exhibitors, including a mix of some of Germany's most important galleries, and blue-chip international enterprises.
Art Basel Miami Beach, Untitled Art, and NADA Miami
Location: Miami Beach Convention Center
General Admission Days: Thursday, December 7–Saturday, December 9
Location: Miami Beach, at 12th Street and Ocean Drive

At the end of each year, the art world – and industries such as fashion and entertainment – descend on Miami Beach in early December for a host of art fairs. The most important of these is Art Basel Miami Beach. Art Basel is usually held a week after Thanksgiving in the US, but on the 2023 calendar, it falls a week later than usual. Two other notable ABMB-affiliated satellite fairs are Untitled Art, which sets up tents on the sand overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, and NADA Miami, which takes place in Miami itself.
