Qu Students, Gcc Peers Visit Milan Universities

Doha, Qatar: A delegation of students from Qatar University (QU) undertook a significant field trip aimed at deepening their understanding of Milanese universities and engaging with their peers from Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. The visit to Milan, Italy, was organised as part of the 10th Annual Student Visit to GCC Universities, an event orchestrated by the General Secretariat of the GCC, which brought together 73 students from 14 Gulf universities, including QU.

Led by Dr. Abdullah Hamed Al Mulla, Director of Student Activities at QU, The delegation comprised four students: Abdullah Al Kaabi, Abdulrahman Al Muhannadi, Osman Al Ishaq, and Mohammed Al Sheikh, who actively participated in a range of academic and cultural activities as well as field visits.

The trip commenced with an introduction and networking session among the participating delegations from the 14 Gulf universities. The group discussed the objectives of the visit, which were established by the deans of student affairs during their annual meeting. The primary objectives included acquainting themselves with the universities of Milan, especially within the framework of this mission, and connecting with students from these institutions. Additionally, the visit aimed to familiarize the participants with the landmarks of Milan, contributing to fostering stronger bonds of camaraderie and relationships among the students of the GCC nations.

During the trip, the participating students made their first visit to The Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti (NABA), one of Milan's largest universities. Offering programmes in both Italian and English, the university provides a diverse selection of undergraduate programmes in seven fields of study spanning three years and seven master's degree programmes over two years. Their second visit took them to The University of Milano-Bicocca, founded in 1998 and renowned for its advancements in research and innovation. Additionally, the GCC delegation toured notable attractions in Milan, including the Duomo area, which houses significant Italian landmarks such as the historic La Scala Theater and the historical museum. The delegation also visited the famous San Siro Stadium, one of the world's most renowned sporting arenas.

As part of their programme, the Gulf delegation visited the Consulate of Qatar in Milan. They were warmly received by Issa bin Ahmed Al Rumaihi, Chargé d'Affaires at the Consulate, who extended his gratitude and praise to the Qatari Consulate's team, with a special mention of Abdullah bin Jassim Al Zeyara, Consul of Qatar in Milan.
