US Congressman pushes for impeachment of Trump
(MENAFN) Democratic Congressman Al Green from Texas has announced his intention to file articles of impeachment against President Donald trump following his controversial proposal regarding Gaza. Trump's suggestion, made during a press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, included a plan to "take over" Gaza, clear the area, rebuild it, and resettle Palestinians. He also described his vision of transforming Gaza into a "Riviera of the Middle East." Netanyahu supported the idea, calling it a chance for Gazans to leave if they wished.
Green condemned Trump's plan as “ethnic cleansing,” accusing the president of committing “dastardly deeds.” He also criticized Netanyahu for endorsing the proposal. Green declared that the push for impeachment had begun, citing both Trump’s actions and proposed actions as grounds for removal.
Although Green had previously attempted to impeach Trump three times during his first term, all attempts failed. Trump was impeached twice during his first term but was acquitted both times in the Senate. Green’s new impeachment efforts are expected to face significant resistance, as some Democratic leaders, including Pete Aguilar, have indicated impeachment is not a priority.
