(MENAFN- Jordan Times) AMMAN - The Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation and the crown prince Foundation (CPF) on Thursday signed a funding agreement to support the implementation of the "School 42 Amman" programme.
The programme is a tailored Jordanian version of an international programming and modern digital skills training initiative, which is implemented in cooperation with a group of specialised international partners, according to a ministry statement.
The initiative aims to develop the innovation and technology skills of Jordanian students, encourage entrepreneurship and create a sustainable model for technology training.
The initiative has more than 47 specialised university partners in 26 countries, having trained more than 65,000 students worldwide, more than 90 per cent of whom were recruited to work in digitalisation and programming roles in major global companies post-graduation.
During the signing ceremony, Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Zeina Toukan said that the JD445,000 agreement is a part of the ministry's efforts to financially support development projects by partnering with leading national institutions in hopes of providing quality and sustainable employment opportunities for Jordanian youth.
CPF CEO Tamam Mango expressed her appreciation for the ministry's support, referring to the foundation's pioneering role in empowering Jordanian youth.
Mango said that this fund will allow CPF's School 42 programme in Jordan to join the initiative's global network in cooperation with Al Hussein Technical University, which will provide free, 12-18 month training programmes to around 100 students during the project's first phase.
