Doha, Qatar: The Police College celebrated on Wednesday the graduation of new cadets from the“Police Officers of Tomorrow” programme in the presence of Minister of State for Interior Affairs H E sheikh Abdulaziz bin Faisal Al Thani, alongside a number of heads of departments at the Ministry of Interior and college officers.
The ceremony was punctuated by a wide range of skillful shows presented by a contingent of students which reflected the sophisticated training level, such as skills of self-defence, handling some security situations by police, capture and control of fugitives, as well as marksmanship and use of rifle, where nearly 400 cadets have been graduated.
President of the Police Academy Brigadier General Abdul Rahman Majid Al Sulaiti said the Police Academy, represented by the Police College, prepares this programme annually for young people which includes sports and military exercises, along with cultural programs on social values for two weeks, emphasizing that this year programme includes six groups whose number reached approximately 2100 cadets.
Brigadier General Al Sulaiti outlined that the number of applicants increases every year with 40 percent which is an indicative of the program's success and its usefulness, as the required number has been met for this year programme in two days, pointing out that the academy intends to have a substantial number of Qatari young people capitalizing on this program, where the college will offer an edition every year different from the previous years.
In his statements during the ceremony, Director of the Police College Lieutenant Colonel Fahd Saeed Al Subaie said the Police Academy celebrates today the graduation of the first group from“Police Officers of Tomorrow” programme whose number is nearly 400 cadets, pointing out that there are five groups to whom the academy will pay tribute respectively and the programme attracts the age category (9-11 years old).
He asserted that the programme aims to promote self-confidence and develop leadership skills which contribute to educating a conscious and powerful generation of young people to serve homeland, defend its gains and capable of participating in its rise and renaissance, pointing out that the Police Officers of Tomorrow programme has been designed to employ the capabilities of its affiliates and prepare them for the future to be good citizens who benefit themselves and their homeland through military and sports trainings, as well as a broad range of religious and cultural lectures.
Al Subaie outlined that the groups of the programme paid field trips to the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya), Rescue Police Department (Al-Fazaa)), General Directorate of Coast and Border Security, General Directorate of Civil Defense and the National Command Center, outlining that the programme is primarily based on optimal investment in leisure times during summer vocations.
The programme was launched on July 1, 2023, and continues until August 10 and is determined to promote values and belonging to the homeland, enhance self-confidence and develop leadership skills which contribute to educating a generation that is conscious of future responsibilities and build men who are capable of pursuing the course of their loyal peers of the homeland.
