China's new ambassador to the US, Xie Feng, arrived in New York earlier in the week and acknowledged the "serious difficulties and challenges" facing the relationship between the two countries. Xie emphasized his commitment to enhancing cooperation while safeguarding China's interests. In line with President Xi Jinping's principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and win-win cooperation, Xie expressed his desire to foster positive exchanges between China and the US.

The talks between the Chinese and US financial chiefs come at a crucial time when the relationship between the two countries faces significant strain. Both sides recognize the importance of engaging in constructive dialogue to address their differences and explore areas of mutual cooperation. These discussions aim to establish a foundation for future engagement and seek common ground on key economic and trade issues. The outcomes of the meeting will be closely watched as stakeholders hope for a positive step towards resolving disputes and promoting a more stable and productive relationship between China and the US.
