Maurice Revello Test For 4 Asian Hopefuls Ahead Of Qualifiers

Australia, Japan, Qatar and Saudi Arabia will compete in the Maurice Revello tournament as part of their preparations for the AFC U23 Asian Cup Qatar 2024 Qualifiers.

Formerly known as the Toulon Tournament, the competition is scheduled for June 5-18 in Aix-en-Provence, France.

Besides the four Asian sides, Bolivia, Costa Rica, France, Ivory Coast, Mexico, Panama, Togo and Venezuela will be the other teams in the fray.

Saudi Arabia, competing in the tournament for the second consecutive year, were drawn in Group A alongside Costa Rica, France and Venezuela while debutants Australia and Qatar - appearing for the seventh time - will have Mexico and Togo for company in Group B. Japan, who will be making their 16th appearance, will vie with Bolivia, Ivory Coast and Panama in Group C.

The three group winners and best runners-up side will advance to the semi-finals while the teams that miss out will contest a further ranking game. The tournament will serve as valuable exposure for the Asian sides ahead of the AFC U23 Asian Cup Qatar 2024 Qualifiers with the Finals to also offer three tickets to the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The AFC U23 Asian Cup Qatar 2024 Qualifiers are scheduled for September 4-12 with Saudi Arabia looking to defend the title they won in Uzbekistan 2022.

Asia was represented by Australia, Korea Republic, Saudi Arabia and hosts Japan at the 2020 Olympics.
