More than 60 high school students from across Qatar attended the Future A&M Engineers (FAME) event, hosted by the Student Engineers' Council (SEC) at Qatar Foundation partner university Texas A&M University at Qatar.

SEC organised the event, which was sponsored by Dolphin Energy.

The two-day engineering immersion event introduced prospective Aggies to the university's world-class, accredited engineering programs as well as the rigors, fun and traditions of being an engineering student at Texas A&M at Qatar.

Students and graduates of Texas A&M University are called“Aggies” and that tradition continues at Texas A&M's branch campus in Doha.

Student attendees participated in a variety of hands-on workshops and team-building activities, including a design competition, so attendees could learn what engineering looks like in real life. Participants also learned about the ever-growing importance and need for engineers, especially in Qatar.

SEC President Zaina Aloudeh said,“The FAME event gives us an opportunity to showcase what life at Texas A&M at Qatar: from our engineering majors, to Aggie culture and traditions. High school students who joined us got an opportunity to speak to current students, and gain insights from industry as well. We believe the event was a success, and we hope to see many of them joining us in the near future.”

Attendees also learned about leadership development and extracurricular opportunities offered by Texas A&M at Qatar - opportunities that shape Aggie engineers into engineering leaders that are so sought after worldwide.

Miguel Treviño, Director of Student Affairs, said,“Texas A&M University at Qatar is committed to providing opportunities for students to develop into leaders and the future engineers of this country. The Student Engineers' Council is one of our premier student organizations that annually provides opportunities for perspective students to learn about the engineering field and how our campus can help transform their dreams to reality. FAME is just one of the many events that our student leaders put together throughout the year that focus on the Aggie Core Values of Respect, Excellence, Leadership, Loyalty, Integrity, and Selfless Service.”
