Khost Residents Want All Security Personnel Clad In Uniform


(MENAFN- Pajhwok Afghan News) KHOST CITY (Pajhwok): Some residents in southeastern Khost province have demanded ban on the movement of armed security forces not clad in uniform.

They said the presence of armed men in private clothes made them worried and if timely action not taken to prevent this practice unauthorized armed personnel may get used it for their nefarious designs.

Ayub, the resident of Khost City, told Pajhwok Afghan News, the movement of armed individuals clad in private clothes had surged in Khost City recently.

He said some unauthorized armed personnel gets advantage of this scenario and conduct different criminal acts.

“There is no difference between an unauthorized armed person and security personnel and this situation spread fear among common people because most of the time people use this scenario as shield. Some individuals under the name of security person looted people and created problems for people,” he added.

Naqibullah Zalan, another resident of Khost province, said some armed people clad in private clothes are seen in the city and this made people to worry.

“Some individuals can be seen in the city, they may have government posts but they are armed and clad in private clothes. Security personnel in uniform should be allowed to possess weapon and individuals in private clothes should not be allowed to have weapons,” he demanded.

Some other residents of Khost expressed similar viewpoint and demanded government to resolve the problem.

Police Spokesperson Mustaghfar Gurbaz said that the problem was due to the shortage of uniform.

He said they were committed to address the problem and assured that reforms would be introduced soon.

“The fact that the security forces vacancies are yet to filled in Khost therefore some individuals have not received uniform and security personnel who don't have uniform will get it soon,” he said.

This comes that recently uniform had been distributed in some provinces to police personnel and people had welcomed the move.
