Qatar's Lekhwiya Team Tasked With Coordinating Search And Rescue Operations In Gaziantep

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) The Qatari International Search and Rescue Group, of the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya), started the task of establishing and managing the coordination cell for the operations of search and rescue teams for international organisations in the Turkish province of Gaziantep, and the main point of contact in the region.
The Qatari team undertakes this task based on a mandate from the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), thanks to its accumulated experience in evacuations and rescue operations in many countries and regions of the world.
The Qatari International Search and Rescue Group arrived at Adana airport in Turkey on Tuesday, coinciding with the arrival of the first flights of the air bridge allocated by Qatar to support the sisterly Republic of Turkiye to confront the earthquake disaster.
The group participates in search and rescue operations, supported by specialized mechanisms and equipment, in addition to a field hospital, relief aid, tents and winter supplies.
