Amman, Jan 27 (Petra) - Lower House Speaker Ahmed Safadi and Algeria's Lower Assembly Speaker Ibrahim Boghali Friday held a meeting in Algiers on enhancing cooperation between the two legislatures.
According to a statement, Safadi said during the meeting, 'We are proud of the level of strong relations between the two countries, which culminated in a summit that brought together His Majesty King Abdullah II and his brother, His Excellency President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, last month in Algiers.'
Safadi noted the 'importance' of building on the summit recommendations and that parliamentarians must overcome legislative obstacles to further cooperation between the two countries.
In turn, Boghali said Algeria supports the Hashemite Custodianship of Islamic and Christian holy sites in occupied Jerusalem, noting that what was discussed in the meeting summit between President Tebboune and King Abdullah II demonstrates the 'centrality' of the Palestinian cause for both countries.
