The“Feel Winter in Qatar” campaign of Qatar tourism is expected to draw a large number of visitors from within and out of the country, a top official from Qatar Tourism has said.

Qatar Tourism's Head of Marketing and Planning, Sheikha Hessa Al Thani said in a recent press conference that the country's winter schedule is jam-packed with events.

“We are waiting to welcome hundreds of thousands of families to partake in our beautiful winter season activities this year.”

The“Feel Winter in Qatar” campaign will run from January through March which offers unmissable events – from larger-than-life visuals and performances, luxury brand exhibitions to vibrant carnival-like festivals, among others.

Al Thani also noted that the country offers visa-on-arrival entries for over 95 countries which had been reinstated late last year. Travellers from a certain list of countries can now obtain a visa upon arrival, enabling them to visit Qatar and enjoy the hospitable nature that makes the country such a popular holiday destination.

Meanwhile, nationals of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, which are Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates do not require a visa to enter the country.

The campaign, according to Al Thani is an extension of the Qatar Tourism's“Feel more in Qatar” brand launched December last year. She explained that they are working on to achieve the target of Qatar Tourism Strategy 2030 that by that year, it will attract six million visitors annually.

The winter campaign showcases Qatar as a family destination, according to Omar Al Jaber, Qatar Tourism Director of Shared Services Department. He said they are working to establish Qatar's position at the global tourism map as a“destination for authenticity and tradition which is loved by people of the world who would love to explore its landmarks as well as entertainment and business activities.”

He said Qatar seeks to provide the elements for it to become a global destination. The country has the best airport and airline in the world – Hamad International Airport and Qatar Airways, respectively, and boasts the biggest electric public transportation, and recently Doha has been named as the Arab Tourism Capital for this year.

The“Feel Winter in Qatar” campaign has an array of events for everyone - from the dreamy Hot Air Balloon Festival happening until Saturday, January 28; the live Disney Princesses Concert to be held at Katara Ampitheatre from Thursday, January 26-28; to the unmissable Doha Jewellery & Watches Exhibition and the most loved Qatar International Food Festival – set from February 20 to 25 and March 1 to 11 respectively.

Other events on the lined-up are Qatar Live from January 26 to February 18, venue to be confirmed; GKA Kitesurfing tournament from January 31 to February 4 at Fuwairit Kite Beach Resort.-
