Saudi Electricity Co. inks deals valued at USD720M to provide 60,000 smart devices


(MENAFN) The Saudi Electricity Co. inked two deals at an overall worth of SR2.7 billion (USD720 million) with a Chinese as well as a Saudi firm for a venture to provide and set up 60,000 smart devices to the nation’s electricity supply network, as reported by the Saudi Press Agency.

The venture also includes linking the nation’s delivery network with high level control hubs within the upcoming two years as SEC seeks to mechanize and improve electrical networks along with its digital renovation plan.

The initial deal with a worth of SR1.5 billion was inked with China Electric Power Equipment and Technology Co. for providing and installing over 33,000 smart devices for the electric grid in the central region in addition to the eastern district.

Al Gihaz Contracting Co. is the second firm with which SEC inked an agreement valued at SR1.2 billion to provided and install higher than 23,700 smart devices in the other two regions (southern and western).
