IDF launches fresh incursion into Quneitra countryside

(MENAFN) The Israeli military renewed operations in southern Syria’s Quneitra countryside on Saturday, according to reports.

An Israeli patrol, consisting of two Hilux vehicles and two Humvees, advanced south of the village of Rwayhina and north of the western village of Zubayda, while two tanks were positioned on the road linking the villages, sources indicate.

The escalation follows Friday’s attack on Beit Jinn and its surrounding roads near Damascus, which reportedly killed at least 13 people, including women and children, and injured 24 others.

According to compiled data, the Israeli army conducted 49 raids across southern Syria in November alone. Since December 2024, government sources report that Israel has executed over 1,000 airstrikes within Syrian territory and more than 400 cross-border raids into the southern provinces.

After the fall of the Bashar al-Assad regime in late 2024, Israel reportedly expanded its control over the Syrian Golan Heights by occupying the demilitarized buffer zone, a move considered a violation of the 1974 agreement with Syria.
