Arab nations affirm Palestinians right to self-determination

(MENAFN) On the occasion of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, Arab states on Saturday reiterated their support for Palestinians’ right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent state, according to reports. This day, observed globally on November 29, was designated by the United Nations in 1977 to highlight the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people, including national independence, sovereignty, and the return of refugees displaced in 1948.

The Kuwaiti Foreign Ministry reaffirmed Kuwait’s longstanding position on the Palestinian cause, expressing unwavering solidarity with the Palestinian people in their pursuit of legitimate rights, particularly self-determination and the creation of a sovereign state along the June 4, 1967, borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. It called on the international community to fulfill its responsibilities, work to end the oppression faced by Palestinians, protect their holy sites, support their presence on their land, and ensure justice for them.

Similarly, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry emphasized that the day is more than an annual commemoration; it serves as a reminder to uphold justice and renew moral and political commitment to the Palestinian cause. Egypt stressed that the Palestinian right to self-determination and an independent state along the June 4, 1967, lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital, is not just a political demand but a historical entitlement recognized by international law and supported by humanity.
