Political violence has grown "alarmingly pervasive" in US

(MENAFN) According to a recent Time magazine investigation, there has been an increase in harassment, assaults, and violent threats directed towards civic and public figures and their families across the United States.

The threat of politically motivated violence has become all too common, and the terror it inspires is upending the political landscape, according to the piece, which cited more than two dozen interviews with experts and public officials on Friday.

It further stated that the country's most fundamental institutions, including as election offices, local councils, municipal health departments, school boards, and even public library systems, are "being hollowed out by unrelenting intimidation."

"This is serious," Clarence Anthony, who served as the mayor of South Bay, Fla., for 24 years, was cited as stating. "It's a real trend, and it's disrupting America's local government system."
