(MENAFN- Saudi Press Agency) Riyadh, Sep 23, 2022, SPA -- The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by the Ministry of Interior, participated in the 3rd ministerial meeting of BRICS countries in disaster management, in which Beijing Declaration of Ministers of BRICS Countries in Field of Disaster Management, which includes the determinants and frameworks of international cooperation in the field of disaster management.
Acting Director General of Civil Defense, Major General Dr. Hamoud bin Suleiman Al-Faraj - the representative of the Kingdom in the meeting that was virtually held today - reviewed the national, regional and international efforts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in reducing and responding to disaster risks, and reviewed the Kingdom's initiatives in this regard, by the establishment of the National Risk Council, the preparation of a national strategy for disaster risk reduction to achieve the goals and initiatives of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, in addition to its sustainable development goals, and the adoption of the goals of 'Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030.'
Major General Al-Faraj also said that participation in this meeting comes as a continuation of the Kingdom's vital role in all fields, stressing the importance of international cooperation and activating the international partnership to reduce disasters, confront them and avoid their impacts on development in all countries of the world.
