Boris Johnson accuses cost of living crisis on Putin

(MENAFN) Retiring British Premier Boris Johnson on Sunday accused the UK’s high prices of living crisis on Russian Leader Vladimir Putin and his current conflict on Ukraine.

In a guest op-ed for Sunday’s Daily Mail, Johnson stated the Russian leader was happy in knowing that the lives of many British people were going to get hard.

"It was Putin's invasion of Ukraine (this February) that spooked the energy markets. It is Putin's war that is costing British consumers,” as said by Johnson, who is soon to be replaced as the Conservative Party’s premier after a series of scandals.

"That is why your energy bill is doubling. I am afraid Putin knows it. He likes it. And he wants us to buckle,” he also declared.

As said by Johnson, Putin believes that as winter approaches, European representatives will soften their position to the Russian leader, ease restrictions over the conflict, "and go begging for Russian oil and gas.”
