French retailer Carrefour to hold prices on 100 outputs to tame inflation


(MENAFN) French store retailer Carrefour on Monday declared that it is sustaining prices on 100 own-brand outputs agreeing with the day-to-day needed of its customers in an attempt to tame inflation.

The yearly inflation level in France reached 6.1 percent last month, the peak since July 37 years ago.

The action came as the administration put additional weights on business to do further on surging costs.

Carrefour stated that "As of today, and until Nov. 30, the operation 100 products at a fixed price for 100 days will be deployed, in all of its stores in France."

The verdict covers numerous types of outputs, extending from food (fresh produce, groceries, greengrocers, preserves, appetizers, condiments, cured products, drinks, etc.) as well as non-food (hygiene products, detergents, clothing, small household appliances, etc.)

Beforehand, additional retailers including French supermarket group Leclerc froze costs in an effort to aid preserve the buying power of French citizens.
