Turkish FM: Ankara, Abu Dhabi start 'new era' of relations


(MENAFN) Turkiye and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have started a new level in two-sided relations, as stated by the Turkish foreign minister.

During a combined news meeting with Emirati Foreign Minister sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Istanbul, Mevlut Cavusoglu declared both nations want to ink a complete trade contract by the end of 2022.

Cavusoglu also said "The UAE is our largest trading partner in the Gulf region. We reached USD8 billion in bilateral trade volume in 2021. This figure we've reached has made us even more hopeful for the future."

He added that both nations can simply stand at USD10 billion and that they wanted to set a new business volume aim of more than USD15 billion.

He went on to state "The war in Ukraine has shown once again that we need solidarity and unity more than ever" mentioning the worldwide energy and food catastrophe.
