Lebanese Pres. Orders Gov't To Act As Caretaker After New Parliament Elected
(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) BEIRUT, May 21 (KUNA) - Lebanese President Michal Aoun ordered the government Saturday to act as caretaker until a new government is formed.
In a statement, the Lebanese presidency said, 'Pursuant to Article (69) of the Constitution related to a resigned government, and given the start of the mandate of the new parliament on May 22, 2022, the President expressed his thanks to the Prime Minister and the ministers and asked the government to act as caretaker until a new government is formed.'
The term of the current parliament, elected in 2018, ends today, and the mandate of the new parliament, whose members were elected on May 15, begins tomorrow. (end)
