Qatar - Google Cloud aims to train over 2,000 engineers every year

Doha: google Cloud aims to train more than 2,000 engineers every year through its Center of Excellence training facility in Qatar. The Center of Excellence which is functioning online is expected open its door for face-to-face training by the end of this year or by early next year, said a senior official. 

“There is a commitment, that ever year as part of our KPI (Key Performance Indicator), to train and educate more than 2000 engineers in Qatar,” said Ghassan Kosta, Qatar Country Manager, Google Cloud, speaking during an event held yesterday at held at W Doha Hotel and Residences, yesterday. “We started this (Center of Excellence) last year and it is very successful as there is huge participation but its virtual because of pandemic situation. We are looking forward to open and to have it onsite by end of this year, or early next year,” he added replying to the question by The Peninsula. 

He added that Google Cloud is working to enhance the digital transformation in Qatar. Google Cloud deepened its presence in Qatar by opening Center of Excellence training facility last year. The Center of Excellence in Qatar opened its virtual doors in June 2021, with the vision to build digital skills for the future - in partnership with Qatar Free Zones Authority (QFZA, Ministry of Transportation & Communications and Intel.

The Center of Excellence provides free, hands-on training in Google tools and technologies for both individuals and businesses seeking to expand their technology skills and succeed in an increasingly digital world. 

The objective of the training facility is to foster innovation in the State of Qatar using the latest technologies and tools offered by Google. The Center will also serve as an incubator for high-potential startups and a hub for research to address digital transformation challenges.
