Professor in Qatar leads first Information Systems Chapter in Thailand

Doha: A Thai national and Associate Teaching Professor of Information Systems at Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar (CMU-Q) led the first national chapter of the Association of Information Systems (AIS) in her home country.

Dr. Savanid (Nui) Vatanasakdakul who is the founding president of Thailand chapter of AIS said:“It is a dream come true for me to bring together leaders and researchers of information systems in Thailand.” She is also the president-elect for the Qatar chapter AIS.

To date, the AIS Thailand chapter has 65 members. 

For his part, CMU-Q Dean Michael Trick said:“We have an exceptional faculty that includes scholars from around the world. I congratulate Professor Nui for her work with the international information systems community, and especially for helping to introduce this new chapter in Thailand.”

The Thailand Embassy in Doha likewise congratulated Dr. Nui on this occasion.“The Royal Thai Embassy in Doha congratulates Dr. Savanid Vatanasakdakul, Thai Associate Teaching Professor of Information Systems at CMU-Q, a partner university of Qatar Foundation, for her success in spearheading the establishment of the first national chapter of the Association of Information Systems (AIS) in Thailand.”

The goal of Thailand Chapter AIS is to promote the exchange of ideas, experiences, and knowledge among information system scholars and professionals engaged in the development, management, and use of information and communications systems and technology in Thailand.

The new chapter will enable the IS research community to increase research collaborations and outputs in the Thai context.
