Doha: sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al Thani, Chairman of Qatar Chamber (QC), who is also Vice-President of the Arab-British Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) and Vice-President of the Arab French Chamber of Commerce, has participated in the annual coordinating meeting of the Joint Arab-Foreign Chambers which was held yesterday at the headquarters of the League of Arab States in Cairo.
The meeting was chaired by Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, in the presence of Abdullah Mohamed Al Mazrouei, President of the Union of Arab Chambers, and Peter Ramsauer, President of the Arab-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The meeting was attended by a number of Arab chairmen, vice-chairmen, and secretaries-general for the joint chambers, the general secretariat of the Union of Arab Chambers, and the general secretariat of the League of Arab States.
The meeting's agenda included several topics including the activities of the joint Arab-Foreign Chambers during the past two years and the work plan for the current year.
It discussed the role of joint chambers, which were founded in the 60's of the past century, in developing and promoting cooperation between Arab and foreign countries and in serving the businessmen from both sides.
The joint chambers were able to become economic institutions that have an active role in promoting Arab economic work with many foreign countries by creating a favourable climate, a strong network of communication and relations at the official and private levels, the meeting noted.
As for future activities, the meeting reviewed the experiences of the joint chambers in the field of the digital economy, as well as the digital platforms that are currently being implemented by some of the joint chambers with the aim of creating a strong and credible database that greatly benefits the Arab business community.
It further discussed the participation of the Union of Arab Chambers in the Dubai Expo from March 28-30, 2022 through the“Joint Chambers Week”, with the aim of exchanging ideas and experiences between Arab and foreign parties and enhancing communication between entrepreneurs from both sides.
The meeting's agenda also touched on the participation of the Joint Arab-Foreign Chambers in the 4th World Entrepreneurs Investment Forum (WEIF2022) which will be held in March 2022 at Expo Dubai and is organised by the Union of Arab Chambers in cooperation with the League of Arab States, the Union of Arab Banks, and the Arab Bank for Economic Development.
On the sidelines of the forum, the second edition of the“Arab Rally” competition for entrepreneurship, innovation and leadership among Arab youth will be launched.
Furthermore, the meeting discussed the European Union's 'Global Gateway' Strategy, and how Arab states take advantage of it.
The Global Gateway aims to mobilise up to €300bn in investments between 2021 and 2027 and develop the infrastructure for many countries to compete the China's Silk Road.
