Kuwait confirms 1st case of new COVID strain


(MENAFN) According to state news agency KUNA statement on Wednesday, Kuwait has confirmed its first case of the newly-discovered Covid-19 strain, Omicron.

Based on what KUNA reported, quoting a health ministry spokesperson, the strain was discovered in a European passenger who landed in Kuwait from an African nation where the strain had been discovered.

Dr. Abdullah Al-Sanad stated while talking to KUNA that the passenger had got the two jabs of the coronavirus vaccinations before and now he is going through institutional isolation, to comply with the health protocol.

He also mentioned that the ministry has taken essential safety measurements since various countries declared detecting the new strain.

Based on Al-Sanad, the pandemic condition in Kuwait is steady at the moment, but, locals and residents have been recommended to take the booster jab to help the ministry control the spread.
