QF’s Doha Debates to Examine Potential Solutions to the Climate Crisis

(MENAFN- Qatar Foundation ) Doha, Qatar, November 2, 2021: As world leaders gather at the UN Climate Change Conference in Glasgow, Qatar Foundation’s Doha Debates will host its biggest programme of the year, in which global experts will debate solutions to the climate crisis.
The virtual programme “Climate change: Can we rise to the challenge?” airs on November 4, and is expected to attract millions of viewers from around the world. Those tuning in are encouraged to share their comments, questions, and suggestions via social media, using the #DearWorld hashtag.
Three renowned experts will offer differing perspectives on how to best address the climate crisis: Naomi Klein, an award-winning journalist and bestselling author; Ameenah Gurib-Fakim, a scientist and former President of Mauritius; and Bjorn Lomborg, author and president of the Copenhagen Consensus Center.
The debate will be hosted and moderated by international broadcast journalist Ghida Fakhry, who will be joined by her Doha Debates colleagues Dr. Govinda Clayton and Nelufar Hedayat. Dr. Clayton is a conflict-resolution expert who will work with the debaters in an effort to find consensus. Doha Debates correspondent Hedayat, appearing from COP26 in Glasgow, will bring audience voices from across the globe into the conversation.
“Climate change is one of the greatest challenges of our time. To deal with it effectively, we are also going to have to bridge fair-minded differences about the best strategies to adopt,” says Amjad Atallah, Managing Director of Doha Debates. “This timely programme will showcase solutions-focused dialogue and debate at a moment that the world’s leaders and a new generation of activists are urgently tackling this question in Glasgow at COP26.”
Airing on November 4, 2021 at 6pm Doha time, the debate can be streamed live via Doha Debates’ Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and Twitch channels, and at DohaDebates.com.
