Jacopo Torriti's research focuses on flexible electricity demand economics. In recent years, his interests in tools for energy policies, including cost-benefit analyses and impact assessments have been integrated with work in specific areas of energy demand in the built environment, with emphasis on economic incentives and the timing of demand practices.

Specific areas of work include Time of Use tariffs, Demand Side Response and Capacity Markets. He is currently Co-Director of the Centre for Research into Energy Demand Solutions and leading two EPSRC-funded projects: Residential Electricity Demand: Peaks, Sequences of Activities and Markov chains (REDPeAk) and Distributional Effects of Dynamic Pricing for Responsive Electricity Demand (DEePRED).

Before joining the University of Reading in 2011, Torriti held teaching and research positions at the London School of Economics, the University of Surrey, the European University Institute and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He obtained a PhD from King's College London, a Master in European Studies from King's College London and a Laurea in Economics from Università di Milano.
