Pakistan, UN Discuss Situation in Afghanistan


(MENAFN- Saudi Press Agency) Islamabad, Sep 4, 2021, SPA -- Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan discussed today with the United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres the latest developments of the current situation in Afghanistan.
This came in a telephone conversation between the two sides who stressed the importance of supporting efforts for reaching peace, stability and a comprehensive political settlement in Afghanistan.
Imran Khan said that Afghanistan is currently going through a critical stage, which can be used to end the conflicts that this country has been witnessing for four decades, by enabling Afghans to achieve lasting peace, security and prosperity in their country.
For his part, Guterres valued the Pakistani government for its support for the continuation of United Nations operations in Afghanistan.
