Passenger flow in Ukraine up 21% stats agency


(MENAFN- UkrinForm) Passenger turnover across Ukraine’s transport operators in January-June 2021 saw a 21.1% increase year-on-year, to 27.9 billion passenger-kilometers.

That’s according to the State Statistics Service , Ukrinform reports.

In January-June 2021, passenger turnover reported by Ukraine’s transport enterprises amounted to 27.9 billion passenger-kilometers (pkm), which is 21.1% more than in the same period last year. In total, over the first half of 2021, almost 1.26 billion passengers used passenger services, which is 4.2% more than in January-June 2020.

In the first half of 2021, some 38.9 million passengers took trains (19.6% more than in H1 2020), while the passenger turnover in the sector stood at 7.27 billion pkm (47.8% up).

The country's motor transport over the six months of 2021 carried 524.2 million passengers (1.8% more than in January-June 2020), while passenger turnover amounted to 8.75 billion pkm (3.8% down).

Ukrainian airlines carried 3.4 million passengers during the reporting period (68.4% more on year), while passenger turnover amounted to 7.38 billion pkm (54.7% more).

As Ukrinform reported earlier citing the State Statistics Service, the passenger turnover of Ukrainian transport operators in 2020 plunged by 53.9% year-on-year, to 49.4 billion pkm.
