Tanzania: Zanzibar greets asset in blue economy


(MENAFN)Tanzania's Zanzibar President Hussein Mwinyi has greeted businessmen from east Africa and beyond to build heavy investment on the Islands that will aid drive the blue economy.

A report released on Saturday, June 19, by the East African Community (EAC), that Mwinyi stated that Zanzibar is open for heavy investment in varied sectors of the blue economy, counting deep-sea fishing, ports infrastructure, marine transport, petroleum and gas, and tourism.

President Mwinyi made the plea throughout a CEO Evening Roundtable Engagement dinner on EAC regional integration classified by the East African Business Council on Friday, June 19.

In his address read on his behalf by Zanzibar's Second Vice-President Hemed Suleiman Abdalla, President Mwinyi stated: " Zanzibar also requires heavy investment in modern agriculture, real estate and conference tourism."
