Get ready for increasing interest rates, cautions IMF head


(MENAFN) On Thursday, May. 6 the International Monetary Fund head cautioned that policy support offered in the course of procedures to fight the coronavirus pandemic should be taken out very cautiously, noting nations should get ready for higher interest rates.

Kristalina Georgieva addressed an event arranged by the European University Institute in Florence, Italy, through video conference: "it is especially important to monitor the US interest rates since there is significant movement there."

She noted global Economy painted a better picture last month, referring to the US and China as "two engines working strongly."

She noted that the IMF projects the EU to get to these two economies thanks to vaccine distributions in the current summer.
