Qureshi Backs Taliban Increasing Violence in Afghanistan
Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi says Taliban are not to be blamed solely for the escalation of violence and that the Taliban are not only responsible for the risen violence.
Qureshi told reporters after meeting a Taliban delegation from Qatar that the responsibility for not reducing the violence in Afghanistan should not be placed solely on the Taliban; all parties should have played their role in reducing violence.
He also said that he had held comprehensive discussions with the Taliban delegation on Afghan peace and Doha talks.
Qureshi stated, 'If all burden were put on the shoulders of Taliban it would be unrealistic.'
Reports also indicate, Pakistan's Prime Minister Imran Khan says he is doing his best to help bring about a permanent ceasefire in Afghanistan.
Pakistan's Prime Minister Imran Khan had a telephone conversation with President Ghani Wednesday night.
A statement from the Presidential Palace said that President Ghani had a telephone conversation with Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan last evening on the ongoing Afghan peace process and the establishment of a permanent ceasefire in Afghanistan.
The Prime Minister of Pakistan pledged his country's support for the reduction of violence and the establishment of a ceasefire in Afghanistan.
This comes as both teams of negotiating parties took a break until January 5, and the Afghanistan reconciliation designates have returned to the country, and Taliban delegations led by Abdul Ghani Baradar have arrived to Pakistan for a two-day visit.
On the other hand, the chairman of the High Council of National Reconciliation, Abdullah Abdullah, on Wednesday said that the location for the next round of talks will be determined in coordination between negotiators from both sides and that the issue of the venue should not become the cause for any type of delays in peace negotiations.
