Bahrain's new plant to improve Aluminum production
(MENAFN) Aluminum Bahrain (Alba), the world's biggest aluminum smelter after China, announced that work on Spent Pot Lining (SPL) treatment plant is going well making it the first of its kind plant in the GCC and Middle East district.
Production had begun the previous year, and is being constructed on more than 26,000 square-meters. They have already reached a 42 percent completion percentage, registering over 178,000 safe working-hours without any loss time injury (LTI) to this day.
The Alba treatment factory, is predicted to start operating by Q2 next year, and will project an annual capacity of 35,000 tones of SPL.
Alba revealed that representatives from Supreme Council for Environment (SCE) and the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and Tourism (MOICT) have inspected the production site of the facility, where Alba's CEO Ali Al Baqali showed the team around.
Where he commented on their progress: "We are pleased with the progress achieved so far as that will bring us closer to realise our vision in setting the benchmark in terms of sustainability and waste management."
