EU, EUNIC Jordan hosts Europe Day Concert in Amman

Amman, June 22 (Petra) -- The European Union National Institutes for Culture (EUNIC Jordan) has continued its celebration of 4th Annual Europe Day Concert in Amman featuring Jordanian Rock Band Akher Zapheer and Spanish Flamenco-fusion singer Maui and other bands.
This annual crossover event aims to bring together Jordanian and European young talents on stage and to celebrate diversity, cultural fusion, creativity, unity and dialogue.
In an open-air special concert at Boulevard Abdali in Amman on Friday, Spanish Flamenco-fusion singer Maui delivered a distinguished performance featuring music of different styles such as Jazz, Pop, Classical and Cuban music. The concert was organized by the Spanish Embassy and the "Instituto Cervantes" in Amman.
Akher Zapheer, a Jordanian band formed in 2007, treated the audience a mix of Arabic and Western songs in Rock music flavor.
At the Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts, Beit al-Ruwwad of the Amman Greater Municipality, entertained the audience with a musical performance reflecting Jordan's folklore and heritage. The event was organized by the "Institut Francais de Jordanie".
Other Jordanian bands "Etidad; Luay Hijazeen; and Love and Revenge" were also present in the concert astounding the audience with a cocktail of alternative Arabic rock and electro-pop music.
World Music Day, also known as Fête de la Musique, is an annual music celebration that takes place on 21 June. In many cities around the world, musicians give free open-air concerts in their neighbourhoods or in public spaces and parks. In Amman, this celebration happens thanks to a partnership initiated last year between the EU Jordan, EUNIC Jordan and the Jordanian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities.
