Egypt- Shell, Revolta agree to develop charging points for EVs

(MENAFN- Daily News Egypt) Shell signed a cooperation protocol with Revolta Egypt for an exclusive two-year partnership. The partnership aims to support Egypt's transition strategy to clean and renewable energy, in addition to promoting the concept of using electric vehicles (EVs) in Egypt, by providing more than 100 charging points in Shell-branded shops.
The partnership was signed by Saher Hashem, general manager of Shell lubricants Egypt, and Mohamed Badawy, CEO of Revolta Egypt.
Chairperson and Managing Director of Shell Egypt, Khaled Kacem, said that Shell Global is keen on providing alternative clean and renewable energy, to work on reducing carbon emissions by less than 50% by 2050.

He added that Shell's new energy business is investing around $2bn annually to produce clean energy sources–making it the preferred partner in the clean energy transition globally and locally.

Hashem said that the partnership reflects Shell's confidence in the strength and prosperity of the Egyptian economy, adding that Shell is keen to create and develop EVs charging infrastructure through several acquisitions of EV charging companies and battery.

On the other hand, Badawy said: "We are proud of signing this cooperation protocol with Shell Egypt, which has gained the trust of leading local and global automotive companies, and is one of the Egyptian government's most important strategic partners, in addition to its extended history that spans for more than 100 years.'
