Azerbaijan expects to receive more tourists from GCC in 2019

(MENAFN) Azerbaijan is expecting a 20 percent year-on-year growth in visitors from the Arabian Gulf this year, as trade and transport links deepen.

CEO of Azerbaijan Tourism Board said: "The GCC is a very important market for Azerbaijan, and will continue to be so due to close proximity between the two places, strong cultural connections and great accessibility as more Gulf airlines launch new routes here."

The number of GCC visitors to the country has increased 30 percent year-on-year last year to 200,000 people, accounting for around 8 percent of Azerbaijan's total 2.8 million visitors that year.

Russia, with 600,000 visitors, made up more than 20 percent of the total.
