Poland plans to hire more than 100,000 Filipinos

(MENAFN- Asia Times) Poland is opening its doors to hiring more than 100,000 Filipino workers to help cover the country's growing labor shortage due to its aging population.

Stanislaw Szwed, Poland's deputy labor minister, said the Philippines and Poland were in the process of forming an agreement on the issue, The Filipino Times reported.

Szwed said Poland needed workers for manufacturing, agriculture and information technology. Other workers who are in demand are masons, carpenters, concrete mixers, plasterers, machine operators and engineers for Poland's infrastructure projects.

Poland expects to be short 4 million workers by 2030 because of the continued emigration of its own workforce and a low birth rate. In recent years, Ukraine has been Poland's main source of immigrant workers.
