Sri Lanka being considered as host for Miss World pageant


(MENAFN- Colombo Gazette) Sri Lanka is being considered as the host for the Miss World pageant, the Ministry of tourism said today.

Key officials of the Miss World Organization including the Reigning Miss World arrived in Sri Lanka on Sunday 30th September on an exploration visit of the island.

The high profile delegation is looking at the possibility of selecting Sri Lanka as the host nation for the world renowned pageant in 2020 or 2021.

The delegation paid a courtesy call on Minister of Tourism Development and Christian Religious Affairs John Amaratunga at his Ministry office.

Minister Amaratunga made presentations to the Chairperson of the Miss World Organisation Julia Evelyn Morley and reigning Miss World, Manushi Chhillar as well as Miss World 2016 and Miss World Brand Ambassador, Stephanie Marie Del Valle Diaz.

Chairman of the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau Dehan Seneviratne was also present on the occasion. (Colombo Gazette)
