Oman introduces REIT funds in expatriates investors support
(MENAFN) Oman has launched its Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) funds, allowing expatriates to put investments in major portfolios, including airports and malls.
Citing a senior official, Time of Oman reported the funds to be introduced in the stock market, providing an option to purchase real estate shares with real estate owners given the option to liquidate their assets.
Board member of Oman Real Estate Association, Fahad Al Ismaili stated "the real estate association has been pushing for this for the last three years as it believes it will be beneficial to both the owners of these big assets, who can liquidate shares, and to the public, who can't own huge properties but can have a stake in such portfolios."
He continued "the law was issued in January and the first REIT fund will be launched probably in April."
