Jordan denounces Houthi missiles attack against Saudi Arabia


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, March 26 (Petra)- Jordan on Monday strongly condemned Yemeni Houthi militias' attempt to target the Saudi Arabia territories, by launching a number of ballistic missiles late Sunday, that were intercepted by the Royal Saudi Air Defence Forces.

Minister of State for Media Affairs and Government Spokesperson, Mohammad Al-Momani, stressed the Kingdom's support for Saudi Arabia in defending itself against recurrent attacks by Houthi militias, renewing Jordan's condemnation of all military actions that threaten civilians.

"Jordan, while it renews its support to Saudi Arabia to maintain its national security and supports legitimacy in Yemen, calls on all parties in Yemen to renounce violence and fighting and return to negotiations that lead to a peaceful solution that spares the country the woes of war, Al-Momani added.

Saudi authorities announced that its air defence forces intercepted seven ballistic missiles fired by Houthi militias towards the capital, Riyadh and other cities Sunday night, adding that the shrapnel resulting from the destruction of these rockets in the skies killed at least one Egyptian resident and caused heavy damage to propriety.

According to a statement issued by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the coalition's air defence forces spotted the launch of seven ballistic missiles from the Yemeni territory toward Saudi lands, noting that three were fired toward Riyadh city, one toward Khamis Mushait, one on Najran and two on Jazan. All missiles were intercepted and destroyed, the statement added.
