UAE to experience fog, rain until Tuesday

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Residents woke up to rain and cool temperatures on Friday, causing many to cancel their weekend outdoor programmes.

Light rain was received over Abu Dhabi International Airport, Abu Dhabi Island, Mohammed Bin Zayed City, Al Dhiad, Musaffah, Ras Ganadah and Al Ain while moderate rain fell over Al Samha. The rains are expected to continue till Saturday morning, according to forecasters.

"I woke up this morning when it was raining here," said Egyptian expat Mohammed Hassan, who resides in Mohammed Bin Zayed City.

"I had a plan to go to Umm Al Emarat Park this afternoon with family, but we had to change it because of the weather."

Herbert Ssali, an Ugandan residing in Musaffah, said: "I love the rain. I was happy seeing it raining this morning as I thought we had gone back to hot temperatures already."

He said the bad weather caused him change his plan of going to play football with friends and instead, he had to go out to a shopping mall.

The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) in Abu Dhabi said rain fell in parts of the UAE on Friday, particularly over the western and southern areas, with cloudy conditions persisting across the country.

According to the NCM, the weather on Saturday will be partly cloudy with some convective clouds and rainfall during morning times, especially over the northern and eastern areas.

"Moderate to fresh winds, especially over the sea and exposed areas will blow dust at times. The relative humidity will increase during night and early morning with chance of fog formation over some coastal and internal areas," said the weathermen.

"Fog may also form during morning times over internal areas and temperatures are expected to fall."

The sea condition will be rough in the Arabian Gulf, especially with clouds activity, and moderate and becoming rough at times in the Oman Sea.

On Sunday and Monday, the weather will be humid during night and morning times with chances of fog formation over some of the internal areas and partly cloudy to fair in general. Northwesterly moderate wind is expected over land and fresh over sea with the speed of 15-30kmph, making the sea become rough in the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea.

The weather on Tuesday will continue to be humid during night and morning times with chances of fog formation over northern areas, becoming fair in general, causing a further rise in temperatures.

Motorists have been advised to drive carefully during these days to avoid accidents because of the bad weather.
