Jordan- Warm conditions continue Sunday, cold weather Monday


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, Feb.11(Petra)-- Warm conditions will continue to prevail across the Kingdom on Sunday with clouds at various altitudes and northwesterly moderate winds, according to Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD).

Daytime temperatures expected for today in Amman, the northern and the southern cities will reach 20 degrees Celsius and jumping to 30 in the port city of Aqaba. At night, it will be colder with mercury levels dropping down to 12 degrees in the capital and the northern cities, and reaching 8 in southern governorates. In the Gulf of Aqaba temperatures will slide at night, standing at 16 degrees Celsius, the JMD said.

A tangible drop in temperatures is expected on Monday, creating relatively cold and partly cloudy conditions with a chance for showers in the northern, central and southern areas of the Kingdom. Winds will be northwesterly moderate to brisk blowing dust in the Desert areas, the JMD said.

A depression centered over southern Turkey will start affecting the Kingdom as of Tuesday night, bringing cloudy skies and heavy rain at times accompanied with thunder and lightning across the country, the JMD added.

Mercury levels will continue to drop on Tuesday, becoming around their seasonal average. Therefore, the weather will be cold, cloudy with heavy rain at times accompanied with thunder and lightning in most regions. Winds will be northwesterly brisk, the department noted.
