Charity (QC) has awarded 100 orphan students, along with their mothers,
in Kenya for achieving academic excellence in the 2016/2017 school
year.
High-achieving orphan students, their families and teaching
staff gathered at a special ceremony held by QC to celebrate their
success and receive the awards.
'This tradition has been always a
prominent aspect of Qatar Charity's sponsorship strategy to encourage
brilliant orphans for their academic achievements, QC said in a
statement.
Acknowledging their efforts in raising the orphans, QC
also awarded the mothers for providing continuous support to the
children despite their poor economic condition.
Mohamed Hussein,
QC regional director in Kenya, addressed the students and encouraged
them to exert more efforts to maintain the academic excellence. He also
thanked and praised their mothers for the role they have played in
supporting the children.
At the honorary reception, bright orphan students and their mothers received awards and certificates of excellence.
Roqyaa
Ibrahim Ismail, one of the awarded students, said: 'No words are enough
to express how I feel. I would like to thank our sponsors in Qatar and
praise their unwavering faith in our cause. I would also like to thank
Qatar Charity for its pivotal role in promoting education and sponsoring
orphans' advocacy.
Qatar Charity awarded 50 mothers, celebrating their dedication and hard work in raising the children.
Hawa
Harbi, on behalf of the attending mothers, delivered a speech saying:
'We deem the Qatari people as brothers and sisters who spare no efforts
in advocating our cause and standing for our children.
She also praised QC's dedication and support to promoting educational projects in Kenya.
Meanwhile,
as part of its social care mission, QC has recently sponsored 655 poor
families, 165 Qur'an teachers and 127 persons with special needs in
Somalia, the statement notes. Accordingly, the total number of QC
sponsorships in Somalia has reached 1,500 individuals.
Through
sponsorships and contributions in Somalia, QC works to fight the
'devastating drought that has engulfed some African countries over the
years, the statement adds.
