Over 8.5mn passengers fly with Oman Air in 2017


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- Around 8,542,000 passengers used Oman Air in 2017 as compared to 7.7mn in 2016, recording a 10.9 per cent rise. The airline said that the growth is a result of increased seating capacity introduced by it.

Statistics provided by Oman Air shows that it has continued the expansion of its fleet and the network.

The year 2017 witnessed the addition of a number of aircraft, bringing the fleet to 48 that are being used for 53 local, Gulf, Arab and international destinations.

The number of flights has also witnessed an increase, from 30,978 in 2016 to 68,457 in 2017. The company has also continued its HR-related activities by assessing all its employees as per the level of responsibilities that they have been assigned to.

The company has also made great effort to raise the percentage of national manpower and has succeeded in reaching 63 per cent Omanisation, reaching a workforce of 4,956, with 85 per cent of them being males.

As for commercial cargo operations, the statistics show that the airline has witnessed a great performance, reaching 98,780 tonnes of commercial cargo operations in 2017.

The statistics also show that Oman Air has achieved great results in estimated time of arrival (ETA), reaching 87 per cent, and recording 99.1 per cent in the technical competency of takeoff of each aircraft.

Oman Air also received a number of awards in 2017, including 12 international awards as recognition of its high standard services.
