Oman- MSM30 index declines amid weak activity


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- The benchmark index of the Muscat Securities Market (MSM) fell 0.12 per cent to close Monday's trading session at 5,531.45.

All three sectoral indices closed in the red. The Financial index inched down 0.01 per cent, while the Industrial and Services gauges dropped 0.11 per cent and 0.22 per cent, respectively.

The MSM Shariah index decreased by 0.09 per cent.

Market breadth was negative with seven advancing stocks to ten decliners, while 27 stocks closed unchanged.

Activity remained weak as volumes dropped by 43 per cent to 5.47mn securities and turnover declined 42.5 per cent at RO1.29mn.

While Omani and GCC institutions were net buyers, local retail investors remained net sellers.

Top gainers were Al Madina Investment (+1.82 per cent at 56bz), Al Madina Takaful (+1.45 per cent at 70bz), Global Financial Investment (+1.13 per cent at 179bz) and Galfar Engineering & Contracting (+1.06 per cent at 95bz).

Top losers were Oman Education and Training Investment (-6.82 per cent at 164bz), Al Hassan Engineering (-6.67 per cent at 56bz), National Aluminium Products (-3.7 per cent at 182bz) and Phoenix Power (-2.07 per cent at 142bz).
