(MENAFNEditorial) Ayni Peru has opened availability of a new five-day, four-night Coffee, Chocolate & Machu Picchu Hiking Tour, a one-of-a-kind culinary tour introducing the crops and dishes that define the region. Along the way, travelers visit world famous sights, including colonial Cusco, the Sacred Valley of the Incas, and Machu Picchu.
Due to dramatic altitude differences, the department of Cusco is home to a fascinating range of micro-climates, from snowy peaks to the humid high jungle. This diversity of environments provides the perfect opportunity for an overview of Peru's hallmark crops. In the Sacred Valley, travelers learn about quinoa, corn, potatoes, while visiting the Inca temples and traditional markets that characterize the area. In the high jungle, visitors will harvest, roast and grind their own coffee, make fresh chocolate in a family kitchen, and take in the dramatic scenery on several tranquil nature walks. Each day, we enjoy meals prepared in the communities we visit, using local ingredients. The final day is spent at Machu Picchu, Peru's Wonder of the World.
Ayni Peru plans all tours in coordination with local families and farmers, who receive fair payment in return for the activities, talks, meals and accommodation they provide. Extensions throughout Peru and Bolivia are available before or after the tour, with daily departures for two or more travelers.
