Iran to widen its commodity imports from Thailand

(MENAFN) Thailand is exploring its options to enter the new Investment sphere which revolves around the oil/gas rich Iran, after the worldwide famous sanctions' termination.

The South-east Asian country will start by selling 300,000 tons of rice to the Islamic republic, plus both nations already had good relations in the past in terms of food trade.

Based on data, the rice will basically come from the new harvest and it had not been factored into Thailand's official target of 9 million tons export for the current year.

Thailand is one of the world's top rice exporters, and it was the top supplier until 2012, however; it's facing a drought and export target for 2016 is a million tons less than for 2015.
