(MENAFN- Arab Times) MP Yousef Al-Zalzalah has stressed the need to put the administration of hospitals under specialized international institutions which respect humans and the sanctity of the medical profession, reports Al-Kuwaitiah daily. In the same context, MP Adel Al-Kharafi supports the idea of privatizing the health sector but it should be done in stages so as not to negatively affect the lives of ordinary citizens. He lamented the health services in the country continue to deteriorate despite the huge budget allotted for the sector; hence, the need for the government to admit failure in this regard. He also underscored the need to activate the role of the private sector in the administration of this important sector in order to improve the health services.
On the other hand, MP Saud Al- Hariji has voiced objection to the idea of privatizing the health sector. He argued this is a very dangerous step as it directly affects the income of Kuwaitis and it is tantamount to leaving the destiny of citizens in the hands of the private sector. He asserted the privatization of the health sector signifies inability to shoulder the responsibility and it will pave way for the privatization of all vital facilities in the country. Nevertheless, he is open to the idea of taking reform steps which are essential to better serve the citizens. Furthermore, MP Abdulrahman Al- Jeran said it is not possible to privatize the health sector at present because the private sector cannot accommodate all citizens as it still lacks the capability to provide advanced systems and experiences like the government sector.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health has finalized list of the expatriate doctors' children who are 18 years and below, which will be forwarded to its education counterpart for these children to be accepted in government schools, reports Al-Anba daily quoting sources. Sources clarified this step is part of efforts to appreciate the dedicated service of expatriate doctors and it is aimed at easing the financial burdens of these doctors considering the exorbitant fees in private schools. Sources disclosed the number of children of doctors working in health districts, dental clinics and central departments reached 4,801. Sources said the Ministry of Education has confirmed receiving a letter from the Health Ministry regarding the children of expatriate doctors and it will thoroughly study each case to take the appropriate decision.
