(MENAFN- The Journal Of Turkish Weekly) A sweltering heat wave has killed at least 64 people across Pakistan in the last 24 hours, hospital officials said, bringing the two-day toll to 84.
Some 15 people were killed due to heat stroke in southern port city of Karachi on Sunday where mercury touched 41 degrees centigrade.
Ten others died in Sibbi, Tharparkar and Shekhupura districts on Saturday.
"Thirty patients suffering from sun stroke were brought to the hospital on Friday; of them 15 have died, while remaining 15 are being treated," Dr Seemi Jamali, the head of Emergency Services of Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Hospital in Karachi told Anadolu Agency.
Jamali said hospitals were having difficulty keeping up with incoming patients.
The meteo office has forecast the heat wave would persist for the next few days in many parts of the country.
